HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-123'., ~" ` `'~•" ~~c'S~~lufii)tt ~~~~. 95-123 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION CREATING JUDGESHIPS FOR THE STATE AND THE COUNTY OF BUTTE CONSISTENT WITH STATE TRIAL COURT FUNDING FUNCTIONAL BUDGETING WHEREAS, The County of Butte has a trial court caseload far beyond the number of judicial positions created by State law; and WHEREAS, The County of Butte has consistently relied upon the assignment of retired judges to handy the caseload of Butte County trial courts; and WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of California is considering legislation that would create 21 judgeships in the State of California; and WHEREAS, The County of Butte is ranked number five in terms of its needs for the creation of a judgeship. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte urges enactment of this legislation, consistent with the funding structure of trial courts that calls for funding of judgeship salaries from State Trial Court Funding; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors requests that the ranking as indicated by the Judicial Council that places the County of Butte number five out of 21 judgeships be retained in the creation of these judgeships. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte this 12th Day of September , 1995, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Houx, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin.
