RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF ROGER LEVEY
WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to ROGER LEVEY far his 23 as a law enforcement
officer with the Butte County Sheriff's Department.
WHEREAS, ROGER LEVEY joined the Butte County Sheriffs Office in August 1972 as reserve deputy
sheriff and was appointed to a full-time deputy sheriff on August 1 1, 1973. During his 23 years with the Butte
County Sheriff's Office, DEPUTY LEVEY has worked patrol, investigation, was a Field Training Officer and
served as the Department's Rangemaster.
WHEREAS, DEPUTY LEVEY received the Distinguished Service Award in 1983 for facing a hazardous
situation, carrying out a plan without serious injury to anyone. This award was the result of an incident that
occurred when he answered a call of a man threatening to shoot his wife. The subject was in the garage which
was locked, completely filled with smoke and vehicles running inside. He and his fellow ofticers working as a
team, forced the door open and lacated the subject who was removed from the garage. LEVEY became
overcome by carbon monoxide fumes in saving the rnan's life and was transported to the hospital where it was
found that he was over the toxic level of carbon monoxide.
WHEREAS, after serving the citizens of Butte County for 23 years, DEPUTY LEVEY is retiring on
October 1. 1995.
NOW, THEREFORE,, BE 1T RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors, on its own behalf, and on behalf
of the residents of the County of Butte:
"That said Board expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by
DEPUTY ROGER LEVEY during his career with the Butte County Sheriffs Department.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 26th day of September 1995 by
the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Houx, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
