RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF TOM GUARINO
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE CHICO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
WHEREAS, Tom Guarino, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Chico Chamber of Commerce, has
resigned to take a position as Chief Executive Officer of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Tom Guarino was named Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Chico Chamber of
Commerce in 1993 after seeing since 1989 as the Chico Chamber's Economic Development Dircclor; and
WHEREAS, Tom Guarino sen~Cd as a lrcmcndously effective liaison between business and government;
and
WHEREAS, during Tom Guarino's tenure, the Chico Chamber's accomplishments were numerous.
They include: business retention, recruitment and expansion; initialing a Home Page for Chico; sponsoring
hundreds of workshops and forums on political, economic, and social issues of the day; establishing Use Grant
and Resource Center for small businesses and non-prom organizations; assisting with the establislvnent of
Leadership Chico; establishing the "Give a Hand, Not aHand-Out" program; providing support to local
manufaciurcrs through the Manufacturer's Round Table; boosting tourism and film production; and establishing
the Non-Profit Network.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of the
citizens of the Co-uily of Butte, wish to express to Tom Guarino sincere appreciation for his dedication to the
Chico Chamber and the entire business conuniuiity, and for his clTarts to improve the quality of life of the citizens
of the County of Butte, Further, we wish him well in his career.
