HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-001WHEREAS, JUDGE LOYD H. MULKEY, JR. was elected to the Butte County Superior Court on June 3, 1980, for a term commencing January 5, 1981, and reelected in 1986 and 1992. Judge Mulkey served as Presiding Judge of the Superior Court for the years 1989 and 1992. He served on assignment as Associate Justice ~r~ tenzp~~e, Court of Appeal, "Third Appellate District in 1987. WHEREAS, JUDGE MULKEY was born in Chico on January 10, 1928, and attended elementary school in Chico. He graduated from Culver Military Academy, Culver, Indiana, in 1945. WHEREAS, JUDGE MULKEY served in the U.S. Army, April 194b to May 1947, Kempo Air Base, Korea. WHEREAS,JUDGE MULKEY received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics from Stanford University in 1950. He received his legal education from Stanford University Law School and received his Bachelor of Laws in 1953. He was admitted to the State Bar of California, U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and to the U.S. District Court, I~Iorthern District of California, 1954. WHEREAS, JUDGE MULKEY was an associate in the law firm of McPherson & Andrews, 1954-56 and a Deputy District Attorney, Butte County, 1956-60. He was a partner in McPherson & Mulkey, 1960-64; McPherson, Mulkey &Aisthorpe, 1964-74; Mulkey, Aisthorpe & Kelly, 1974-78; and, Mulkey, Aisthorpe, Kelly & Cook, 1978-81. WHEREAS, JUDC;E MULKEY is a member of the California Judges Association and the Cow County ,ludges Association, President 1991-92. He was a member of the Butte County Bar Association from 1954-80, and served as President 19'72. He was a member of the American Bar Association 1960-80. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf, and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, would like to express their deep appreciation to JUDGE LOYD H. MULKEY, JR., for his unselfish dedication, having completed 15 years as a Superior Court Judge, and further wish him well on his retirement.
