HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-033-._ . . -, m.,. ~~E'Sc~~i1f1Oit Iti'0• 96-33 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF APRiL 1996 AS PUBLIC SCHOOLS MONTH WHEREAS, our founding fathers established a great AMERICAh1 SCHOOLS system to enlighten the people; and WHEREAS, the Masonic Fraternity believes that the preservation of our system of FREE PUBLIC SCHOOLS is necessary for the survival of freedom and self-government in our beloved country; and WHEREAS, our system of universal public education provides the opportunity for strengthening our youth to become responsible citizens; and WHEREAS, in the year 1920, Public Schools Month was initiated by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in California, and since that time has annually called upon the citizenry to rededicate themselves toward the continuation and perfection of our public schools system. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim the month of Aprii 1996 as PUBLIC SCHOOLS MONTH, and urges all citizens to attend and participate in public schools observances and to join with us in a concerted endeavar to support the efforts and goals of our administrators, teachers and students. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 9th day of April 1996 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Do1.an,Houx, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin NOES: None ABSENT: None NOT VOTING: None t , ED McLAUGH N, Chair Board of Supervisors ATTEST: JOHN S.
