ACQUIRING A NEW AUTOMATED PROPERTY TAX SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the county is responsible for administering the property tax
system; and
WI~REAS, the valuation, collection and allocation of property taxes can
most effectively be accomplished with the assistance of automation; and
WI~REAS, the existing automated property tax system is no longer
supported by the computer manufacturer and is in need of replacement; and
WI~REAS, the Board of Supervisors has determined that an appropriate
method to finance the acquisition of a new automated property tax system is
through a loan from the Workers Compensation Insurance Reserve Fund or the
General Liability insurance Reserve Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Treasurer Tax Collector
and the Auditor Controller are directed to transfer up to $ 310,000 from the
Workers Compensation Insurance Reserve Fund or General Liability Insuxance
Reserve Fund to the General Fund for the purpose of purchasing a new
automated property tax system.
The amount transferred shall constitute a loan, such loan to bear interest at
the rate earned by the County Treasury and such interest to be paid quarterly.
The principal amount of the loan shall be repaid in such a manner as the Board
of Supervisors may in the future direct.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this
the 26th day of November, 1.996 by the following votes:
AYES: Supervisors Meyer, Dolan, Houx, Thomas and Chair McLaughlin

NOT VOTING: None
