HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-145PROCLAMATION CONFIRMING EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3296 of the County of Butte empowers the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when said County is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the Board of Supervisors is not in session, subject to ratification by the Board of Supervisors within seven days; and WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within this County, commencing on or about 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 1996 with a succession of wind and rainstorms resulting in the wide spread flooding of low lying residential and agricultural areas in Butte County causing and threatening significant property damage, at which time the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte was not in session; and WHEREAS, said Board of Supervisors does hereby find that the aforesaid conditions of extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local emergency; and WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Services of the County of Butte did proclaim the existence of a local emergency within said County on the 31st day of December, 1996; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that the proclamation of Existence of a Local Emergency, as issued by said Director of Emergency Services, is hereby ratified and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte; and IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIlVIED AND ORDERED that said local emergency shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California.
