HomeMy WebLinkAbout962(l lP;~ s~ ~ s BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE N0. 962 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEID LIMIT ON CERTAIN ROADS WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Il 12 13 I4 15 16 17 I8 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 ~ 32 I The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,-State o£ California do ordain as follows: Section l: Said ,Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highways hereinafter described come within the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, in that the maximum speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highways, and determines and declares a prima facie speed limit on such Butte County high- ways as follows: A. That a prima facie speed limit of twezi'~y-five (25) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 25 MILES signs be place at appropriate locations on the hereinafter- described County highway, to wit; MIDWAY FROM THE SOUTHERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF BROWN STREET TO A POINT 2000 FEET NORTHERLY OF DURHAM HIGHWAY. B. That a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour is here by determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 35 MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter described County highwayy to wit; 1. NELSON AVENUE FROM THE WESTERLY LINE OF TWELFTH STREET TO THE WESTERLY LINE OF TWENTIETH STREET. 2. FOOTHILL BOULEVARD FROM BROOKDALE DRIVE TO OLIVE HIGHWAY. C. That a prune. facie speed limit of fifty--five (55) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT 5S MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter described County highways, to wit; 1. OLNE HIGHWAY FROM APICA AVENUE TO OROVILLE-QUINCY ROAD. 2. OROVILLE-QUINCY ROAD FROM OLIVE HIGHWAY TO 1500 FED NORTHEAST OF OLNE HIGHWAY. Section 2: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an engineering and traffic Suxvey, the Butte County highways hereinafter 1 described come.: within the provisions of Section 22357 of the Vehicle Code 2 of the State of (!alifornia, in that the existing prima facie speed limit 3 is less than is most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of 4 traffic on said highways and determines and dgelares a prima facie speed 6 limit on such County highways as follows: 8 A. That a prima facie speed limit of forty-five (~.5) miles per q hour is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LII~ffT 8 45 MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter- g described County highway, to wit: 10 TRES VIAS FROM TWENTIETH STREET TO WEST END. 11 B. That a prima facie speed limit of fifty-five (55) miles per 7.2 hour is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT 13 55 MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter i4 described County highway, to wit: 15 COHASSET ROAD FROM A POINT 300 FEET SOUTHERLY OF THE FIRST 16 STREET ENTRANCE TO CHICO AIRPORT TO A POINT 300 FEET NORTHERLY 1'7 FROM THE FOURTH STREET ENTRANCE TO THE CHICO AIRPORT. 18 C. That a prima facie speed limit of thirty (30) miles per hour is 19 hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT 3D MILES 20 signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County 21 highway, to wit: 22 ALL OF MANGROVE AVENUE. 23 Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict 24 herewith are hereby repealed. 25 Section L~: The several features, parts, provisions, section and 26 terms of this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and 2'7 the invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provisions, section, or 28 term thereof, shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render 29 the same inoperative or invalid. 30 Section 5: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte 31 is hereby directed to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima 32 facie speed limit established herein,w~liuithirty (30) days of the adoption hereof. -2- 1 2 3 4 8 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 2i 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage, it shall be published with the names of the members voting for and against the same, once in a local newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.
