HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-005i ,~ ~ ~~ s,, GAUNTY~~.~~ ~"~''1~, STA'1'~ Q~' ',dlL,.li~'1~., -` ~ xr K~rsalution ,alt,, 9~-as PROCLAMATION CONFIRMING EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3296 of the County of Butte empowers the Director of Emergency Services to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local emergency when said County is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and the Board of Supervisors is not in session, subject to ratification by the Board of Supervisors within seven days; and WHEREAS, said Director of Emergency Services has proclaimed a local emergency by Resolution 96-144 on December 31, 1996 and ratified by the Board of Supervisors by Resolution No. 96-145 on December 31, 1996; and WHEREAS, said Board of Supervisors does hereby find: That conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen within this County, commencing on or about 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 1996 with a succession of wind and rainstorms resulting in the widespread flooding of low lying residential and agricultural areas in Butte County causing and threatening significant property damage and risk to human life; and WHEREAS, said Board of Supervisors does hereby find that the aforesaid conditions of extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED that a local emergency continues to exist throughout said County; and IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that during the existence of said local emergency the powers, functions and duties of the Director of Emergency Services and the emergency organization of this County shall be those prescribed by State law, by charter ordinances, resolutions on this County, and by the County of Butte Emergency Plan, as approved by the Board of Supervisors on December 10, 199b. IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that said local emergency shall be deemed to continue to exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California.
