RESOLUTION OF THE BUTTE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE
FOREIGN TRADE ZONE BOARD OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF
COMMERCE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SATELLITE
FOREIGN TRADE ZONE FOR PROPERTY AT AND AROUND THE
CHICO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, the Port of Sacramento has heretofore established foreign free trade zone
number 143 located in the City of West Sacramento, County of Yolo, State of California, all in the
manner authorized by the statutes and regulations of the U.S. Government and the State of California
{hereinafter "the Free Trade Zone"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Chico has requested the Port of Sacramento to authorize an
application to be filed on its behalf with the Foreign Trade Zone Board of the U. S. Department of
Commerce which requests the Board to approve an expansion of the Free Trade Zane by authorizing
the establishment of a satellite zone containing property at and around the Chico Municipal Airport;
and
WHEREAS, the establishment of the Free Trade Zone is part of a comprehensive economic
development program that both the City of Chico and County of Butte will support and participate
in.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors as
follows:
1. That the County of Butte supports the plan to establish a satellite zone containing property
at and around the Chico Municipal Airport;
2. That this effort is part of a comprehensive economic development program that both the
County of Butte and City of Chico participate in;
3. That the Butte County Board of Supervisors believes that this program will be successful due
to the growth of international trade locally.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors on this 11th day of
February 1997 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Josi_assen and Chair Davis
