HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-143RESOLUTION RETURNING THE BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH -RABIES CONTROL (Budget Unit 490-001) TO A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors previously adopted Ordinance No. 3103 reducing the County work week from 40 hours to 36 hours; WHEREAS, the 40-Hour Work Week Committee of'the Management Council was formed to investigate the feasibility of restoring all county departments to a 40-hour work week; WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Supervisors to gradually return all county departments to a 40-hour work week and to enhance services to the public, while recognizing the constraints of limited county resources; AND WHEREAS, Resolution 97-_S3 in recognizing Butte County's current fiscal constraints, expressed the intent of the Board of Supervisors to restore certain departments to a 40-hour work week; NOW, THEREFORE BE f"h RESOLVED, that pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (1994-1997) between the County of Butte and Butte County Employees' Association General Unit, (Section b.04), and the Butte County Iti~4anagement Employees' Association, (Section 7.04), employees in all classifications in the offices of Public Health - Rabies Control (Budget Unit 490-001), are returned to a 40-boor- per week schedule, effective the I" day of November 1997. In keeping with that support, the Department is committed to providing the maximum services passible within available resources. Requests for animal control services have been high and over the last year considerable progress was made to address animal control issues that have developed during a seven (7) year hiatus of services. The program still faces major challenges such as inadequate sheltering capacity and hours of service coverage. These challenges must be addressed to accommodate the public's expectations and demand far services. Return of Animal Control to a forty (40) hour workweek effective November 1, 1997 will significantly increase our service hours. GH/TR/mlf forty.ac9130197
