BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE N0. 972
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIlK1T ON CERTAIN ROADS
WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA
(Vehicle Code Section 22358)
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, do
ordain as follows:
Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highways hereinafter described
come within the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of
California, in that a prima facie speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles .per
hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highway, and determines and
declares a prima facie speed limit on such Butte County highways as follows:
A. That a prima facie speed limit of twenty-five (25) miles per hour
is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 25 MILES
signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
highways, to wit:
(1) West 1st Avenue between Cedar Street and 200 feet west of Mechoopda
Avenue.
(2) All of Estates Drive.
(3) All of Fairway Drive.
(4} All of Greenview Circle.
(5) All of Fairview Circle.
(6) All of Riverview Circle.
B. That a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour
is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LIMIT 35 MILES
signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
highways, to wit:
(1) Vermont Street from City Limits of Gridley to Little Avenue.
(2) Little Avenue from Vermont Street to Block Road.
flo That a prima facie speed limit of forty-five (45) miles per hour is
hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEID LINLCT 45 MILES
signs be placed at appropriate .].cations on the hereinafter-described County
highways, to wit;
1 (1} Oroville-Gridley Highway from west right-of-way line of Kirk Road. to
!2 1,000 feet easterly.
3 (2) Lower Honcut Road from 1,000 feet east of Palermo-Honcut Highway to
4 1,000 feet west of Palermo Honcut Highway.
5 Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
!6 hereby repealed.
7 Section 3: The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms of
',8 this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and the
9 invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provision, section, or term thereof,
10 shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same
11 inoperative or invalid.
12 Section 4: The Department of Public Works of-the County of Butte is
13 hereby directed to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima facie
14 speed limit established herein, within thirty (3¢) days of the adoption hereof.'
L5 This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its passage, and
16 before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage, it shall be published
17 with the names of the members voting for and against the same, once in a local
~g newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.
19 PASSID AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte,
20 State of California, at the regular meeting thereof on the 9th day of
21 April , 1968, by the following vote:
