AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF .BUTTE AMENDING
ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 21 OF THE CODE OF
BUTTE COUNTY
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte do ordain

as follows:
Sections 21-27, 21-28, 21-29 and 21-30 of Article III of
Chapter 21 of the Butte County Code are hereby amended as follows:
"Section 21-27. The recorder shall repurchase any unused
documentary tax stamps sold by him prior to July 1, 1968. The
recorder shall accept in payment of the tax any such stamps
affixed to a document offered for recordation and shall cancel the
stamps so affixed."
Section 21-2$, is amended by changing the second sentence
to read:
"On or before the fifteenth day of the month the recorder
shall report to the county auditor the amounts of taxes collected
during the preceding month pursuant to .this ordinance and each
such city ordinance."
Section 21-29, is amended by changing the first two
sentences to read:
"The recorder shall not record any deed, instrument or
writing subject to the tax imposed by this ordinance unless the
tax is paid. If the party submitting the document so requests, th
amount of tax due shall be shown on a separate paper which shall
be affixed to the document by the recorder after the permanent.
record is made and before the original is returned as specified in
Section 27321 of the Government Code."
Section 21-30 is repealed.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty C3Q) days after
its adoption, but shall not be operative until 12:01 aomo, on
July 1, 1968.
That this ordinance before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage, shall be published with the names of the
members voting for and against the same, once, in a newspaper

published in the County of Butte, State of California.
PASSED AND ADAPTED by the Board of Supervisors, of the
County of Butte, State of California, this 28th day of May, 1968,
by the following vote:
