RESOLUTION I' OR CLOSURE OI, THE SOU"I'H APTERBAY
I~OR SPEIDBOA`' `L'IMED RACING
WHEREAS, the Butte County Sheriff's Office patrols the Thermalito Afterbay pursuant
to a contract between the Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Water Resources;
and
WHEREAS, there is presently a planned and scheduled speedboat timed racing event
at the South Afterbay from 6 P.M., March 6, 1998 through 6:00 P.M., March $, 1998; and
WHERL;AS, in light of said event, the Sponsor of the event (Northern California
Outboard Association) and the Butte County Sheriff's Office have requested that the Butte
County Board of Supervisors authorize the public closure of the South Afterbay, specifically
the area between Highway 162 south to Hamilton Road and Highway 99 to the easterly right-
of-way boundary, for the purpose of conducting speedboat timed racing; and
WHEREAS, such public closure appears in the best interest of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED that exclusive use of the South Afterbay
body of water will be granted to Northern California Outboard Association for the purpose of
presenting the speedboat timed racing event and the public will not be permitted use of the
aforementioned body of water for the aforementioned dates and times specified.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 24th day of
February, 1998, by the following vote:
