RESOLUTION OF THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
WHEREAS, the Chief Probation Officer has demonstrated Chat high risk, violent
juveniles that are detained in Juvenile Hall creates an unsafe environment for both staff and other
minors in the Ha11,
WHEREAS, the California Welfare and Institution Code allows the California Youth
Authority to contract with counties for the temporary detention of juveniles who in the opinion of
the judge of the juvenile court present a significant risk of violence or escape.
WHEREAS, Butte Cowity desires to contract with CYA for this purpose to ensure a safe
and secure environment in the Juvenile Hall.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the appropriate
Welfare and Institution code, Che Butte County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief
Probation Officer to enter into a contract with CYA for the temporary detention of violent, high
risk juveniles who may be detained in the Juvenile Hall.

of February , 1998, by the following vote:
