RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE
AUTHORIZING TflE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO ENTER INTO
CONTRACTS WITH INDEPENDENT SERVICE CONTRACTORS
WHEREAS, California Public Contract Code Sections 20390 et seq provide authority to
the Board of Supervisors to enter into contracts with independent service contractors for work
upon any county highway, when the estimated expense of the work is twenty-five thousand
dollars ($25,000) or less, and;
WHEREAS, California Public Contract Code Sections 20400 et seq provide authority to
the Board of Supervisors to enter into contracts with independent service contractors for work
upon any county bridge, when the estimated expense of the work is ten thousand dollars
($10,000) or less, and;
WHEREAS, said California Public Contract Code Sections 20390 et seq and 20400 et
seq also provide authority to the Board of Supervisors to authorize the Road Commissioner to
have such work done under his or her supervision and direction, and;
WHEREAS, Butte County Code Sections 2.41 and 2.73 provide that the Road
Commissioner shall be the Director of Public Works and the Director of Public Works shall
perform the duties of the Road Commissioner, and;
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors desires to implement efficiency measures to
expedite the contracting with independent service contractors for routine work on county
highways and bridges which are funded within approved levels of appropriations.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors at the County
of Butte, State of California, as follows:
The Board of Supervisors hereby authorize the Director of Public Works, as Road
Commissioner, to enter into contracts with independent service contractors in behalf of the
County of Butte, for work on county highways when the estimated expense of the work is
twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) or less, and for work an county bridges when the
estimated expense of the work is ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or less, in accord with the
provisions of California Public Contract Code Sections 20390 et seq and 20400 et seq
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 14th day of July , 1998, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors
NOES: None
ABSENT: Supervisor
NOT VOTING: None
