A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF BUTTE COUNTY
PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 21-27, 1998, POLLUTION PREVENTION WEEK
IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, the County of Butte supports a clean and safe environment
for its residents; and
WHEREAS, pollution prevention enhances the natural beauty prevalent in
Butte County's communities; and
WHEREAS, pollution prevention is an approach to environmental
protection that focuses on prevention, and is therefore a preferable strategy for
protecting our environment; and
WHEREAS, pollution prevention offers both environmental protection and
increased economic competitiveness; and
WHEREAS, by focusing attention on pollution prevention, the County of
Butte will meet the challenges of the next century far economic competitiveness,
environmental protection, and environmental regulation; and
WHEREAS, National Pollution Prevention Week is an opportunity for
government, industry, and environmental organizations to recognize the potential
of pollution prevention and to work together to plan for a prosperous and
sustainable future.
THEREFORE, be it resolved that September 21-27, 1998, is Pollution
Prevention Week in Butte County and the County of Butte does hereby urge all
community members and businesses of Butte County to participate in local and
regional celebratory and educational activities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors, County of Butte,
State of California, this 25th day of August, 1998 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Josiassen and Chair Davis
NOES: None

NOT VOTING: None
