RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 14-20, 1998 AS
"ALWAYS BUCKLE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WEEK"
WHEREAS, the Oroville Optimist Club No. 20524 has been a vital part of the leadership
of the community for the past year; and
WHEREAS, Optimist International has long been a "Friend of Youth;" and
WHEREAS, injuries to children can be prevented by following three simple guidelines:
. Suckle up every child in a motor vehicle properly,
. Whenever possible, put children in the back seat of the vehicle,
. Always secure rear-facing infant seats in the back seat; and
WHEREAS, joint concern and action are a proven method of resolving a community's
problems; and
WHEREAS, the Optimist International Child Safety Program "Always Buckle Children in
the Back Seat" raises community awareness of the need to safely place children in cars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVF,D, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
hereby proclaims September 14-20, 1998 as "Always Buckle Children in the Back Seat Week."
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 1st day of
September 1998 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
