HomeMy WebLinkAbout98-165WHEREAS, Child abuse has reached pandemic states in California and throughout the
United States. It is imperative that community members launch unified, visible child abuse
prevention education programs and activities to eliminate the abuse of children; and
WHEREAS, the Children's Services Coordinating Council coordinates the annual "Month
of the Child" campaign in cooperation with community partners to offer our citizens the opportunity
to demonstrate their commitment to children safety; and
WHEREAS, the "Month of the Child" campaign will be observed throughout Butte County
during the month of December 1998. Parents, youth, Government Business, Law Enforcement,
Schools, Religious Institutions, Service Organizations, Social Services, Health Services, Media, and
the General Public will demonstrate their commitment to child abuse prevention by participating in
a candle light vigil; and
WHEREAS, the communities of Butte County, in collaboration with the Children's
Services Coordinating Council, to ensure the success of the ``Month of the Child" campaign and
year-round child abuse prevention efforts, are implementing child abuse prevention projects
throughout the Communities of Butte County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors for the County
of Butte does hereby support December 199$ as the ``Month of the Child". and encourages all
citizens to participate in the candle light vigils, making a visible statement and commitment to
prevent child abuse.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 10`" day of
November 1998 by the following vote:
