AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN ROAD::
WITHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE? STATE OF
CALIFORNIA
(Vehicle Code Section 22358)
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, do
ordain as follows:
Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highway hereinafter
described comes within the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Gode of
the State of California, in that a prima facie speed limit of sixty-five (65)
miles per hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highway, and
determines and declares a prima facie speed limit on such Butte County
highway as follows:
A. That a prima facie speed limit of twenty-five (25) miles per hour
is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LTMTT 25 MILES
signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
highway, to wit:
Eaton Avenue from 300 feet west of Burnap Avenue to 800 feet
east of Burnap Avenue.
B. That a prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour
is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 35 MILES
signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County
highway, to wit:
(1) Eaton Avenue from Esplanade to 300 feet west of Burnap Avenue.
(2) Eaton Avenue from X00 feet east of Burnap Avenue to Cohasset Road.
Section 2: A11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
Section 3: The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms.
of this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and the
invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provision, section or term thereof,
shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same
inoperative or invalid.
Section 4: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte is
hereby directed to erect appropriate si gns giving notice of the prima facie
speed limit established herein, within thirty (30} days of the adoption hereof.

This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its passage, and
before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage, it shall be
published with the names of the members voting far and against the same,
once in a local newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of
California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, at ti2e regular meeting thereof on the 9th
day of JuIY , 1968, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, Howsden, McKillop, Pryde and Chairman Maxon
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
