Resolution No. 99-11
YROCLAIVIATION OF APPRECIATION TO SUPPORTERS OF THE
SECOND ANNUAL COMMUNITY WIDE TRUE LOVE WAITS CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and safety of young adults in our
community is of vital importance to the entire well being of Butte County; and
WHEREAS, students in many Oroville area schools, in order to enhance and maintain their health
and well-being, have participated in True Love Waits sexual abstinence campaigns February 9-12; and
WHEREAS, many students have modeled making healthy choices and have signed pledge cards
to practice sexual abstinence from now until marriage; and
WHEREAS, participants and supporters of this international campaign include but were not limited
to students at Berry Creek School; Feather River Adventist School; Oroville Christian School; St. "i`homas
the Apostle School; Venture Club, Central Middle School; Campus .lAM, Las Plumas High School;
STAND Club, Oroville High School; Caring for Women; the Community Health Alliance of Oroville
(CHAO); the Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville; Our Children, Our Treasure; and the YMCA.
NOW, THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does
hereby proclaim and affirm their appreciation to the supporters of the second annual community wide True
[,ove Waits campaign, and encourages residents to acknowledge the value of sexual abstinence by young
adults until marriage as a viable method to promote health and well-being.

1999 by the following vote:
