HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-019F ~ ~~ ~u~~~~~~o CAUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFQRI'VIA RE~solufion Na. ~9-is A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF THE BUTTE COUNTY REGIONAL HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT APPLICATION, SEVENTH CYCLE WHEREAS, the County of Butte recognizes the importance of providing convenient opportunities for its residents to safely and property dispose of household hazardous waste on a regular basis through an ongoing and permanent household hazardous waste management program; and, WHEREAS, the County of Butte is lacking a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Facility for proper disposal of household hazardous waste, which can be utilized by all residents of Butte County; and, WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted Assembly Bill 1220 (Eastin, 1993} that provides grants to local governments to establish and implement waste diversion and separation programs to prevent disposal of hazardous waste, including household hazardous waste, in solid waste landfills; and, WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the grant program within the state, setting up necessary procedures governing application by cities and counties under the program; and WHEREAS, the applicant will enter into an agreement with the State of California for development of the project; WHEREAS, the Cities of Biggs, Oroville and the Town of Paradise have authorized the County of Butte to submit a Regional Household Hazardous Waste Grant application to the California Integrated Waste Management Board on their behalf and to be the lead agency for the implementation of the Grant; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors authorizes the submittal of a regional application on behalf of the County and cities of Oroville, Biggs and the Tawn of Paradise to the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Household Hazardous Waste Grant - Seventh Cycle. The Public Works Director of the County of Butte, or their Exhibit B-'I designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the above named citieslcounty all necessary applications, contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
