RESOLUTION FOR CLOSURE OF THE THERMALITO AFTERBAY
FOR SPEEDBOAT TIMED RACING
WHEREAS, the Butte County Sheriff s Office patrols the Thermalito Afterbay pursuant to a contract
between the Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Water Resources; and
WHEREAS, there is a planned and scheduled speedboat timed racing event at the Thermalito
Afterbay scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M., March 5, 1499 and will continue through 6:Q0 P.M., March 7,
1999; and
WHEREAS, in light of a said event, the Sponsor of the event (East Bay Boat Club) and the Butte
County Sheriff s Office has requested that the Butte County Board of Supervisors authorize the publ is closure
of the Thermalito Afterbay, specifically the area between Highway 162 north and Hamilton Raad on the
south, Highway 99 on the west to the easterly right-of--way boundary, for the purpose of conducting speedboat
timed racing; and
WHEREAS, such public closure appears to be in the best interest of the public.
NOW> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that exclusive use of the Thermalito Afterbay body of water
will be granted to East Bay Boat Club for the purpose of presenting the speedboat timed racing event and the
public will not be permitted use of the aforementioned body of water on the aforementioned dates and times
specified.
PASSED AND ADOP`I~ED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, this 23"' day of February, 1999, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Davis, Houx, Josiassen and Chair Dolan
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
