HomeMy WebLinkAbout99-035~~~~0~ ~S U.F',~'~+~ • ~ ~: •: R°` '~'~ BOARD OF SUPERVIStJRS i~: '~~ ~*' r' ~ *~ COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA •~ s'CS~ : f' ~ . . ~ .• .y • /, k.~ .. +(' ' G • ~~~~%~~OUl~~~i~~~~ RE'so~ufion X10. 99-35 ^.^ RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF RICHARD MCMILLAN UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL WHEREAS, Richard McMillan joined the California Highway patrol on July 27, 1970 having previously served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan, following graduation from the California Highway Patrol Academy in November 1970, was assigned to the East Los Angeles Area office, transferred to the Ventura Area office in 197?, transferred to the Los Angeles Communications Center in 1981, transferred to the Woodland Area office in 1983, transferred to the Oroville Area office later in 1983, transferred to the Chico Area office in 1992, and transferred back to the Oroville Area office in 1995; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan, during his entire career with the California Highway Patrol, has worked as a beat officer dedicating himself to the safety of the motoring public by vigorously enforcing the laws of the State of California and by actively patrolling in school zones to ensure the safety of the children in our communities; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan has been a dedicated servant to the people of Butte County and the State of California by providing assistance to stranded motorists, victims of motor vehicle accidents, and vehicle theft victims; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan, in 1990, was an active joint-agency team member in the Campaign Against Marijuana Plantation, responsible for the eradication of several tons of live marijuana plants in northern California; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan, in 1994, was selected as California Highway Patrol Peace Ofticer of the Year by the Chico Noon Exchange Club; and WHEREAS, Richard McMillan, upon his retirement will have served more than 27 years with the California Highway Patrol. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its awn behalf and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, would like to express its deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by Richard McMillan during his career with the California Highway Patrol.
