"~ .i ~~ "~ ~~~ ~~ rV' ~~ °~ ~~ =~°~ BQARD QF SUPERV1St~RS C~ ; ~ T/! ^ ~*; ~~ :*i i ~t~ .• .; COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA .'t'~ : ~ , ~''~ : y. +r~ ~ V • l +++++~.C~U~+~+,+++ ~t'SO(Utl0i1 ~10. 99-3h RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF DICK CASSADY WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to Dick Cassady for his 37 plus years as a member of the Butte County Fair Board; and WHEREAS, Dick was appointed to the Butte County Fair Board by Supervisor Les Pryde in 1961, filling the unexpired term of Charley Herrington. Since 1961, he was re-appointed to successive terms by Supervisors Jere Reynolds, Bertha Moseley and Ed McLaughlin; and WHEREAS, he served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the association many times, and has worked with past managers Joc Whiteaker, Ben Marcum, Don Brandt, Jake Walgenbach, and the current manager, Patricia Conklin; and WHEREAS, his interest in young people was always foremost in his decisions. Dick assisted in securing matching funds from the Division of Fairs & Expositions to build the community swimming pool on the fairgrounds. As a long time swine exhibitor, he was instrumental in establishing the Annual Junior Livestock Auction during the fair each year. This event provides a showcase for the youth of Butte County to market their 4-H and FFA projects; and WHEREAS, during his 37 years as a director, Dick attended 35 Western Fairs Association conventions. He is well known and recognized by fair managers as well as other directors because of his attendance at fairs throughout California and the Western United States. He thoroughly enjoyed the fair industry, and he attended many out-of--state fairs, such as Calgary, (7gden, Salt Lake, Phoenix and Portland, as well as many more fairs located throughout California; and WHEREAS, Dick°s years of service on the Butte County Fair Board ended on January 4, 1999, after service with distinction to the Butte County Fair for over thirty-seven years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents of Butte County, expresses their deep appreciation for the unselfish dedication and devotion given by Dick Cassady during his 37 years of service to the Butte County Fair.
