Home Care Center have been representing and organizing home care workers since 1979; and
WHEREAS, the United Domestic Workers of America represents thousands of home care
workers in twenty-two counties in California, including Butte County, who provide safe and quality
home care services to the elderly and disabled, ensuring greater independence and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the United Domestic Workers of America and the Domestic Workers Home Care
Center members work to promote cost-effective IHSS programs that provide employees livable income
and benefits, that provide IHSS consumers quality, reliable care, and that offer counties fiscally sound,
cost saving programs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
commends the United Domestic Workers of America/AFSCME and the Domestic Workers Home Care
Center during the celebration of their twentieth anniversary, as they move forward to a more effective
Home Supportive Service Program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors honors the IHSS
home care workers in Butte County. Their invaluable work allows our elderly and disabled to retain
their dignity and independence.

1999 by the following vote:

UNITED DOMESTIC WORKERS OF AMERICA
AND DOMESTIC WORKERS HOME CARE CENTER
