A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION FOR
BUTTE COUNTY REGIONAL USED OIL OPPORTUNITY GRANT, FIFTH
CYCLE
WHEREAS, the County of Butte and the Cities of Biggs, Oroville and
the Town of Paradise recognize the importance of protecting local surface
and groundwater sources by the proper management of used motor oil and
Household Hazardous Waste products; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte and the Cities of Biggs, Oroville and
the Town of Paradise cooperatively participate in regional public education
programs to address the issues of used motor oil and Household Hazardous
Waste outreach and public education; and
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the
California Oil Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and
counties for establishing and maintaining local used oil collection programs
that encourage recycling or appropriate disposal of used ail;
WHEREAS, the California Integrated Waste Management Board has
been delegated the responsibility for the administration of the used oil
collection program within the state, setting up necessary procedures
governing applications by cities and counties under the program; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board
of Supervisors authorizes the submittal of a regional application on behalf of
the County of Butte, Cities of Biggs and Oroville and the Town of Paradise to
the California Integrated Waste Management Board for a Local Government
Used Oil Opportunity Grant -Fifth Cycle. The Butte County Director of
Public Works, or designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute
in the name of the above named cities/county all necessary applications,
contracts, payment requests, agreements and amendments thereto for the
purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the
purposes specified in the grant application.

this 26t" day of October, 1999 by the following vote:
