RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF Dr1RRELL G. SMITH
WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to Murrelt S~ruth for his 28 years of dedicated
service to the Butte County Sheriff s Office; and
WHEREAS, Murrell Sr~rith sta--ted his law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer with the Chico
Police Department after serving in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Darrel! .Sntrth joined the Butte County Sheriffs Office on September 24, 1971 as a
Deputy Sheriff; and
V1'HEREAS, Murrell Sprit{z served in the Jail, Patrol, Civil Division, Special Enforce-nent Unit and
the Courts: and
WHEREAS. Murrell .S7ni1{~ served as an Honor Guard for the Butte County Sheriff's Oftice
throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, Darrell Smith served under five Butte County Sheriff-Coroners; and
WHEREAS, after faithful service, Murrell Snriih retired from the Butte County Sheriff s Office on
September 9, 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Board of~Superviso--s, on its own behalf
and on behalf of the residents of the County of B--tte, express their deep appreciation for the selfless
dedication and devotion given by Me1~utP Morrell G..S'nri~br during his 2K year law enforcement career with
the Butte County Sheriffs Office.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 9th day of'tiovember
1999 by the following vote:
