ORDINANCE NO. 995
AN ORDINANCE CONSOLIDATING "C-1" (LIGHT
'1 COMMERCIAL) ORDINANCE NOS. 556,660,694,704,
799,830,847; 548,619,627,691,739,805,910;
'2 645,835,861,872,903, AND ESTABLISHING
REGULATIONS FOR THE USE OF LAND ,AND THE
CONSTRUCTION AND USES OF BUILDINGS IN
3 "C-1" DISTRICTS OF BUTTE COUNTY
~ The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of Cali-
forma, under and pursuant to. Ordinance No. 475 of said County,
eing the Zoning Enabling Ordinance as amended by Ordinance Nos.
522-and 676, DOES ORDAIN as follows:

SECTION 1. The hereinafter described area situate in the County
7 f Btxtte, State of California, shall be and it is hereby zoned as a
8 "C-1" (Light Commercial} District as hereinafter described, and
object to all of the restricted uses applicable to a "C-1"
istrict:

SECTION 2. The following regulations shall apply in a "C-1"
12 (Light Commercial) District:
13 2.1 USES PERMITTED:
a. Dwellings and dwelling groups, subject to the building area
14 pt width and yard requirements specified for residential districts.
15 ~' Hotels and motels, clubs, lodge halls, hospitals, sanitar-
ums and clinics.
16 c. Retail stores and shops of light commercial character and
onducted within a building, including appliance stores, banks,
17 artier shops,. beauty parlors, book stores, cleaner or laundry agents
nd launderettes, dress shops, drug stores, food stares, furniture
totes, millinery shops, professional offices, restaurants, shoe
'18 hops, storage garages, studios and tailor shops, public utility
19 ommercial offices, and other uses which are of similar character
o those enumerated and which will not be detrimental or obnoxious
20 o the neighborhood in which they are to be located.
d. Outdoor advertising signs, new automobile sales and
21 heatres.
2.2 LOT WIDTH REQUIRED: .Minimum lot width shall not be less
22 than twenty-five (25) feet.
23 The lot width requirements for residential dwellings shall can-
form to the requirements for any residential zone.
24 2.3 FRONT YARD REQUIRED:
25 None, except buildings and structures shall be fifty (50}
feet from the centerling of the road, except where the road is
26 classified as a Federal Aid Secondary and then the minimum setback
shall be fifty-five (55) feet from the centerline of said road.

28 None, except when the side of a lot abuts upon the side of
lot in an "R" District, in which case the abutting side yard shat]

37. The side yard requirements for residential dwellings shall

2.6 THE FOLLOWING USES SUBJECT TO SECURING A USE PERP~IIT IN

c. Small animal hospitals, dance academies, pet shops, mortu-
5 cries, used car sales, used or secondhand goods, refreshment stands
service stations, drive-in restaurants and other uses which are of
e similar character.
7: SECTION 3. All uses of land within the District not specifically
g' authorized or permitted under Section 2, are prohibited.
9 SECTION 4. Butte County Ordinance Nos. 556,66D,694,704,799,830,
847, 548,619,627,691,739,805; 645,835,861,872,903 are hereby

]l' SECTION 5. In compliance with the provisions of said Zoning En-
abling Ordinance No. 475, the same is amended by adding to Section
12, thereof, this Ordinance in full.
13' SECTION 6. The penalties far violation of the zoning hereby im-
posed upon said District sha11 be as provided in the said Zoning
I4 Enabling Ordinance.
15 SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall be and it is hereby declared to
be in full force and effect from and after thirty (30) days after
i6 the date of its passage; and before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage, this Ordinance shall be published once with
l~ the names of the members of the Board of Supervisors voting for and
against it, in the Chico Enterprise a newspaper pub-
18.lished in the County of Butte, State of California.
19 PASSED and ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, this i~thday of sentember 1968,
