HomeMy WebLinkAbout997 BUTTE COUNTY ORDINANCE N0, 997 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN ROADS WITHIN THE GOUNTY OF BUTTES STATE OF CALIFORNIA 1 2 I 3 4 5 6 7 8 s 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31' 32 ', The Board of Supervisors of the County o£ Butte, State of California) do ordain as follows: Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, the Butte County highways hereinafter described come within the provisions of Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, in that a prima facie speed limit of Sixty-five (65) miles per hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highways, and determines and declares a prima facie speed limit on such Butte County high- ways as follows: A. That a prima facie speed Iimit of THIRTY-FIVE (35) MILES PER HOUR is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIl~SIT 35 MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described county highways, to wit: 1. Durham Highway from Midway to Cummings Road. 2. Cummings Road from Durham Highway to Lott Road. B. That a prima facie speed limit of FIFTY-FIVE (55) MILES PER HOUR is hereby determined, declared and established and that SPEED LIMIT 55 MILES signs be placed at appropriate locations on the hereinafter-described County highway, to wit: 1. Durham Highway from Cummings Road to State Highway 99. Section 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 3:. The several features, parts, provisions, sections and terms of this ordinance are hereby declared independent and severable, and the invalidity, if any, of any feature, part, provisions, section, or term thereof, shall not affect the remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same inoperative or invalid Section 4: The Department of Public Works of the County of Butte is hereby directed to erect appropriate signs giving notice of the prima facie speed limit established herein, within thirty (30) days of the adoption hereof. 3 This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its passage, 2 and before the expiration of fifteen days after its passage, it shall be 3 published with the names of the members voting for and against the same, 4 once in a local newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of Californian 5 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of 6 Butte, State of California, at the regular meeting thereof on the lst 7 day of October , 1968, by the following vote: 8 9 AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, Howsden, McKillop and Chairman Maxon 10 NOES: None lI ABSENT: Supervisor Pryde 12 NOT VOTING: None 13 ~X /rv~ ~.1 14 Chairman, Baafd of Supervisors County of Butte, State of California 15 ATTEST: JESSIE ROGERS, County Clerk 16 and Ex-Officio Clerk of the Board of Supervisors 1'7 18 D uty 19 20 2I. 22 23 24 25 26 2'7 28 29 30 31 32 -2- `,
