4.11 Acceptance of a Grant to Help Camp Fire Survivors and Approval of Related Budget Adjustment
The Department of Employment and Social Services is partnering with FEMA, CalOES, California
Department of Social Services, and the American Red Cross to develop transition plans for each
Camp Fire survivor sheltering at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. The North Valley Community
Foundation, in collaboration with Wells Fargo Bank, has offered a grant of $1 million to help meet
the needs of fire survivors from both the unincorporated area of the County and the Town of
Paradise who are transitioning out of the shelter. The funds can be used for fire survivors
currently utilizing the shelter to remove barriers to transitioning out of the shelter. The grant will
also cover the costs for the County to administer the funds. The Department recommends
accepting the grant and approving a budget adjustment to set up a new fund to account for the
grant and appropriate the funds action requested - 1) ACCEPT GRANT; 2) AUTHORIZE THE
DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES OR THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER TO
EXECUTE RELATED DOCUMENTS; AND 3) APPROVE BUDGET ADJUSTMENT (4/5 VOTE REQUIRED).
