ARGONAUT/ CANYON HIGHLANDS
PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST
Dear Oroville Resident,
The City of Oroville is asking for your help in determining the best public use for the 20.5 acre parcel
that is shown above. Currently portions of this parcel are used as a storm water detention pond. The City's
2030 General Plan has identified your area as one that is underserved by public parks and facilities. An
opportunity for resolving this is by converting the 20.5 acre parcel into an open space park for the surrounding
area residents. The City plans to apply for a grant from a program called the "Statewide Park Development and
Community Revitalization Program of 2008" which, if approved, could assist in the process of establishing this
neighborhood park.
Your opinion is very important. Please take time to complete the questionnaire that is printed on the
reverse-side of this letter and return it in the enclosed envelope, or drop it by City Hall, 1735 Montgomery
Street. Two informational gathering meetings, held by City Staff, are planned for February 6th (10:00 A.M. to
11:30 A.M.) and February 13th (2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.) at the site. We ask that you return the survey and
encourage you to attend one of the informational meetings. If attending, please indicate which meeting you
plan to attend. Look for the signs and canopy at the corner of Argonaut Avenue and Canyon Highlands Drive.
Thank you for being part of this process and for returning the survey by January 29th; we look forward
to your comments. Please direct any questions regarding the survey to Bob Marciniak at(530) 538-2518.
