Supervisor Maureen Kirk,
I Live on the most beautiful kna11 in Butte county's third district, and the Maidu know it.
Regarding the proposed medical cannabis cultivation ordinance before the Board: I am opposed
to it. And here is why:
We are wasting precious time wrapped around the axle of eradicating medical cannabis.
Time that could be spent crafting a resolution calling for repeal of the federal prohibition
of marijuana. Only then will we be able to regulate it.
Time that could be spent implementing the Compassionate Use Act's edict (C) To encourage the
federal and state governments to implement a plan to provide for the safe and affordable
distribution of marijuana to all patients in medical need of marijuana.
Time that could be spent making money for Butte county, California, and America's citizens as
well.
Concluding, I'd like to recommend two books for your shelf. Martin Lee's new Smoke Signals,
and Michelle Alexander's The New Jim Crow.
On your shelf they'd make a great backdrop, you'll look enlightened in photos and video. If
you and your staff actually read them, you'd be even more enlightened!
