Butte County Board of Supervisors,
My name is Kyllee Hedglin and I am writing you today on the positive we would have if
we turned the northern half of California into the State of Jefferson. Let's start this out with the
population in California. Southern California population is over 22 million that is 60 percent of
California's population. That's really affects the representation of Northern California. In the
northern third of California, depending on where you draw the line we have only 4 to 5
representatives, and the city of Los Angles has 35 representatives. That is definitely not an
equal way to represent California as a whole.
The State of Jefferson will also help protect the private property rights that California is
not. California has 570 state regulatory agencies that all want your money, permits, permission,
and what to decide what to do with your property and how you are going to do it. The State of
Jefferson's constitution would protect your property to provide and benefit your families. State
of Jefferson's constitution would be much smaller than California's, which has been amended
521 times in the past 163 years.
Changing the state of Jefferson's constitution will a constitution that will be extremely
difficult to change unlike the 521 times California has change ours. The new constitution wiill
outline individual rights, functions of government and how they can and will be performed.
It's a chance to start over, and break away from the state that is known as the 2n,worst
taxed state, the highest deficit nationwide, and the personal income tax with a 13.30 percent
(the highest in the nation). I believe that we should be the voting whether the State of Jefferson
wil[exist and not having the decision made from the California Democratic Party opposing
because they believe it's a threat to California.
Sincerely,
Kyl!ee H,:edglin
