Subject: Redistricting
Yes, redistricting should not be done by Supervisors. The process of redistricting should be the responsibility of a
non-partisan citizen's committee of Butte County residents whose interests and motivations are to do the best
possible redistricting for their community and Butte County. I support those in South and West Chico who are
concerned about the current process. All of the communities have much to lose if put into districts for political
reasons--the interests of these communities are going to be very, very different and it will weaken the ability of all
the communities involved to participate and gain support and be represented by a person w/experience and
knowledge of their issues. Let citizens from Gridley, Biggs, Chico, Oroville, Cherry Creek, Forest Ranch, et al, work
redistricting using transparent criteria and with input from the public.
