Subject: Funding for C0111StrUCtion of a new Butte County Jail. "Not Needed!"
Dear Board of Supervisors:
The Butte Community Coalition has, been an effective advisory coalition for the residents of Chico,
Butte County and California since 1978. Our survey, by phone, of a representation of Butte County
Residents indicates they are against building a new jail, not needed!"
We Suggest the Sheriff and the Board of Supervisors use their own money for recruiting African
Americans and Native Americans as deputies and employees of Color. Butte County is the Mississippi
of Northern California. The county has no deputies of Color. '"I'he Oroville Police Department (Very
Racist!) has also failed to hire Blacks.

Subject.Appointment of Black African Attorneys as Judge in the rural Counties North-East of
Sacramento.
Dear Assembly Woman,Autumn Burke,
The following Counties do not have Black Judges;
Sutter,Yuba, Colusa, Glenn, Butte, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Lassen,Nevada,Tehama, Trinity,
Modoc Counties. We wrote the State Judicial Appointment Secretary, asking him to recommend
the Governor Brown that Blacks be appointed. He never answered our letter.
Two Caucasians were appointed to the bench in Butte County after our letter was received. I
sent a copy of the letter to the Governors Secretary with no answer from the Governor.
Would you please refer this matter to the Governor, to fellow Assembly Members and Senate
Members urging them to support our request?
