Pve worked collaboratively with the Butte County EDC to organize and facilitate the Ag Speed Dating events in both 2011 and 2012. The Butte County EDC took the lead with these events and invited us to participate by reaching out to our Buy Fresh Buy Local, North Valley {BFBLNV) member network. The growers, retailers and restaurants that participated in these events were all thrilled with the opportunity to build relationships that expand markets for locally produced ag products. The BFBLNV program uses resources like the BFBLNV logo and The Eater's Guide to Local Food to connect growers with new and innovative market access, stimulating economic development in rural packets of the North Valley. BFBLNV has a track record of success and it is partners like the Butte County EDC that help our program grow its reach to even more farmers, ranchers, business and consumers in the region. The mission of NCRLT's BFBLNV program is to help make the connection between local food and local farmland by raising the visibility of farmers and ranchers who direct-market in our region. This program serves as a critical link for economic growth in our rural area where we still have open space and agricultural lands as key resources, enhancing market opportunities for our region's producers. The Butte County EDC has played a key role in critical meetings and has been a connector to resources essential to our program's success. I am pleased to support the Butte County EDC and believe that their work and collaboration is vital to stimulating much needed urban and rural economic development in Butte County. Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding this letter and my support Best regards, Noelle Ferdon Director of Local Food Systems 167 E. 3`d Ave Chico, CA 95926 167 least 3`~ Avenue ^ Chico, CA 95926 ^ Phone: {530} 894-7738 ^ Fax: (530} 894-1189 ww~v.landconservation.org NORTHERi1 GALIFOR=CIA k~GIU~I+I iA~1D 7RV51 ~~ ~S n~c~td.C~ ~S ~ P a h~G~dE ~~Rs ~ I67 EasC 3'~ Avenue ^ Chico, CA 95925 Fhone: (530) $94-7738 ^ Fax: (530) 894-1189 ww~v.landconsezvation.or~ Fage 2 ~10RTHERN CALIFORNIA P,E(UlONRL LAND IRU51 167 East 3~ Avenue ^ Chico, CA 95926 Phone: (530) 894-7738 ^ Fax: (530) 894-ll89 y_vyytxr.landconservation.or~ Page 3
