Re: Notice of Butte County Oversight Boards Consolidation Effective July 9, 2818
Fear Supervisor Lambert:
When redevelopment agencies dissolved, oversight boards where established to supervise the activities
of the successor agencies that assumed the assets and responsibilities of the former redevelopment
agencies. Within Butte County, individual jurisdictions each have their own successor agency and
oversight board, with the exception of the City of Biggs. In accordance with Senate Bill No. 1017
(SB107), Health and Safety Code Section 341790), the four (4) oversight boards currently in place in
Butte County will consolidate into one Countywide Oversight Board commencing July 1, 2018. The
Countywide Oversight Board will supervise the activities of the four (4) successor agencies within Butte
County.
The required makeup of the Countywide Oversight Board appointments are as follows:
• One member may be appointed by the County Board of Supervisors
• One member may be appointed by the City Selection Committee established pursuant to
Section 50270 of the Government Code
• One member may be appointed by the Independent Special District Selection Committee
established pursuant to Section 56332 of the Government Code, for the types of special districts
that are eligible to receive property tax revenues pursuant to Section 34188
• One member may be appointed by the County Superintendent of Education to represent schools
if the superintendent is elected. If the County Superintendent of (Education is appointed, then the
appointment made pursuant to this paragraph shall be made by the County Board of Education
• One member may be appointed by the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges to
represent community college districts in the County
• One member of the public may be appointed by the County Board of Supervisors
• One member may be appointed by the recognized employee organization representing the
largest number of successor agency employees in the County
This letter is to request the applicable appointments to the Countywide Oversight Board. Appointments
to the oversight board are requested in a timely manner. The change from multiple oversight boards to
one Countywide Oversight Board goes into effect July 1, 2018. The Governor may appoint individuals to
fill any member position that is vacant on July 15, 2018.
