Instead, the SDA requested LAFCO to conduct these elections on the districts' behalf, which we have done faithfully for many years. We are fully aware that those districts who have already met their voting responsibilities are tiring of receiving these notices, but it is imperative that Butte County Special Districts be fully represented on LAFCO and this requires the participation of a quorum of special districts. If your district has done its part, THANK YOU...but please don't ignore this notice, but rather reach out to neighboring districts to participate and end this election. Election History to Date FIRST Round of voting: March 22 - May 19, 2017. Ten (10) out of 41 districts voted: + Feather River Recreation and Park District + Paradise Recreation and Park District + Gridley-Biggs Cemetery District + Lake Oroville Area Public Utility District + Chico Area Recreation and Park District + Thompson Flat Cemetery District + Western Canal Water District + Paradise Cemetery District + Oroville Cemetery District + Butte County Mosquito &Vector Control District SECOND Round of voting: May 20 through July 21, 2017. Seven (7) additional districts voted: 1 a Thermalito Water and Sewer District 0 South Feather Water and Power Agency 9 Lake Madrone Water District 0 Reclamation District#833 0 Richvale Recreation and Park District 0 Durham Irrigation District 0 Rock Creek Reclamation District THIRD round of voting: July 22 through September 22, 2017. No (0) additional districts voted. The election period has now been extended a FOURTH time until Friday, November 17, 2017. Please remember that this election is and will not be valid, until ballots are received from a quorum of districts (21) and that this process will continue to repeat until such time ballots are received from a majority of the districts. 'Those districts who have already submitted their votes need not vote again; however, those who have not, your pamiElpation is requested. Current Special District LAFCO representatives will continue to serve until such time a valid election is concluded or their term of office expires. This is an important ballot, as your Special District LAFCO Commissioner will be making, decisions on budget issues, policies and projects that may have a direct impact on your district. Terms of office for both seats were scheduled to begin June 1, 2017; however, will begin once a quorum of 21 districts successfully complete and return their ballots. Terms will expire in May of 2021 Instructions: 1. Votes shall be made by official action of the Districts' Board of Directors. 2. Ballots shall be certified by the signature of the Chair, or an alternate District Board Member chosen by the Districts' Board for the purpose of signing the attached ballot AND counter-signed by the Districts' General Manager/Secretary of Board. 1 District ballots shall be returned no later than 4:00 p.m, on Friday, November 17, 2017. Ballots postmarked after the closing date will not be accepted, 4. District ballots returned by electronic mail shall be scanned copies of the original signed certified ballot. 6. If you do not have a District Board meeting scheduled within this time frame, a special meeting shall be scheduled in order to submit a valid ballot. In order for the election to be valid a guorum 21 of districts must complete and return their ballots. Otherwise the process will CONTINUE to repeat until such time we receive ballots from a ma'ority of the districts.
