Mr. Sing allowed the 5 Freightliner to travel to the right, drive off the roadway and collided with a rock 6 embankment north of Circle J Road. The collision caused damage to the right side 7 diesel fuel tank that allowed approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the dirt 8 shoulder. CHP Officer Randy Forslund, ID 16148, responded to handle the collision 9 investigation. 10 11 The California Department of Transportation was notified and responded to the scene. 12 They began clean-up of the contaminated soil. The California Office of Emergency 13 Services (OES) and Butte County Health were notified. The vehicle was towed from the 14 scene by the registered owner. 15 16 Evacuation Details 17 18 No evacuation measures were necessary. 19 20 Cleanup Actions 21 22 Cal. Trans. responded to the scene and removed the contaminated soil for proper 23 disposal. 24 25 CHP On-scene Personnel 26 27 Chico Area Captain April Baxter, ID 13695 28 Chico Area Officer Randy Forslund, ID 16148 29 Officer R. Baker, ID 16578 31 32 Time on scene: 2 hours and 30 minutes 33 34 No exposure or injuries. 35 36 Road Closures 37 38 The northbound traffic lane was closed for approximately 60 minutes until the vehicle 39 was removed from the scene. 40 41 Environmental Impact 42 43 Environmental impact was low and mitigated by the small size of the fuel release and 44 the quick clean-up efforts by Cal Tran's personnel. 45 Preparer's Name And I.D.Number Date Reviewer's Name Date A.
