RE: Appointment to Oversight Board for the Successor Agency to the Chita
Redevelopment Agency
Dear Paul:
As you are aware, State legislation eliminating redevelopment agencies (AB 1X 26) was recen#ly
upheld by the California Supreme Court. As a result, all redevelopment agencies will be
dissolved as of February 1, 2012 pursuant to Part 1.85 {commencing with Section 34170) of
Division 24 of the California Health and Safety Code.
As provided in AB 1X 26, the City of Chico will serve as the successor agency to the Chico
Redevelopment Agency anti is required to carry out specified duties. The primary role of the
successor agency is to continue to make payments on, and perform obligations pursuant to, ail
enforceable obligations of the former redevelopment agency.
AB 1X 26 also provides that each successor agency have an oversight board composed of seven
members as outlined on the attachment to this letter. The puzpose of this letter is to request that
your entity make the appointment(s) as provided in Section 34179 of the Health and Safety Code.
Please provide the name, title, address, a-mail and telephone number of the individual{s)
your entity appoints to the oversight board to the City Manager of the City of Chico as soon
as possible, but not later than February 29, 2012.
We anticipate convening the oversight board in March of 2012 for an orientation/ overview. It is
expected the board will begin conducting regular meetings of the oversight. board in April 2012.
Meeting frequency and scheduling have yet to be determined.
