Many Seniors rely on the nutrition program for their lunches Monday thru Friday in
Chico. Now we find that the Friday lunch has been cancelled under CARD.
We feel this is unacceptable action due to the fact that other Senior Centers in Butte
County are receiving the Friday lunches. Chico Seniors need this program also.
Why was it taken from Community Action under the county and put under CARD who
cannot afford to continue providing lunches either? Chico does not have their awn
"Senior Center run by Seniors. We are not separate from all the other programs that
CARD provides which leaves Senior lunch program not important.
It is not possible to pion other ways to have lunches on Friday because the CARD
building is closed. We realize due to budget problems some programs need to be cut,
however we cannot understand why it ~ the Seniors? Same cuts should be on all the
various programs, sports, children, CARD employees, perks, dances, pinochle, and arts.
We hope those who are making these decisions can find other ways to cut instead of the
health of Seniors who have provided for all the programs in the past. Senior takes have
paid far these programs in the past and now need help themselves.
