Subject: Consideration for appointment for the Butte County Fair Board
Dear Supervisor Lambert:
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I am just checking back about the opening on the Butte County Fair
board and was wondering if you have filled the position. If it is still vacant, I would still like to be considered for the
opening. I believe I have a great deal to offer the fair, especially with my knowledge in both the small and large animal
livestock fields.
Thank you again for your consideration

I was a 4-H member for 10 years in my youth. I have children currently enrolled in the program. My children have
also participated in other fairs such as the California State Fair, Colusa County Fair, and the Tehama District
Fair, in not only livestock but still exhibits as well. I have held and completed my term as a Butte County 4-H
council member. Currently, I am a 4-H leader and hold several committee chair positions at the county level. In
addition, I have been a member of the Butte County Fair Junior Livestock Auction Advisory Committee for the
past 3 years and my term there is up this December. If possible I would like the open position on the fair board. I
have seen the fair from many angles: a spectator, a parent of exhibitors, a 4-H leader, a 4-H council member and
committee chair, and as a JLA member. I feel like my time and knowledge would be better suited on this board. I
know California fairs are struggling and I would like to be a part of keeping our little fair afloat. I am not only an
advocate for livestock but I believe everyone should work for the fair as a whole, and not just for their one
passion. Spectators, still exhibitors, the carnival, the attractions, vendors, livestock, 4-H and FFA members and
families all have a role in the fair and all need to have equal representation. If allowed to take a seat on the board
I will strive to make viable decisions for the good of the fair as a whole.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my cell at 530-228-1231.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sandra Toews
