Thank you for your letter of May 27 requesting that Nevada County adopt a Resolution requesting the
State of California to waive the administrative charge associated with CAL FIRE contracts.
Nevada County does not contract with CAL FIRE for fire protection, as nine separate fire agencies
provide fire suppression services within the County. Nevada County only contracts with CAL FIRE
for a Fire Protection Planner who reviews land use and building permit applications and conducts
related inspections for the Community Development Agency. Therefore, the County's CAL FIRE
contract administrative charge is negligible and does not impact the delivery of fire suppression
services in the County.
