This series will explore the ways that ecosystem services can be used in land uise planning, management decisions, and scientific research with a focus on the Delta. Ail talks will be held at the: Park Tower Plaza 2nid Floor Conference Room 980 Ninth Street Sacramento, CA 95814 All talks will be webcast Seminar I .- Towards multi-functional resilient landscapes: environmental heterogeneity as a bridge amonig diverse ecosystem services 1 Iryna Dronova, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, UC Berkeley Wednesday, January 17, 12:00-IM p.m. Dr. Dronova will speak about her research on the dynamics of wetland vegetation and ecosystem services in the Delta. This talk will focus on the impact of complex, multi-functional landscapes on ecosystem services, management, and planning. Seminar 2 - Ecosystem services and reserve selection Van! Butak, Ph.D., Assistant Specialist & Adjunct Professor, UC Berkeley Monday, January 22, 12:00-1:00 p.m. Dr. Butsic will describe the use of economic theory and methods to evaluate land use decisions. He will show how applications of these theories inform the sebection of conservation reserves and the implications these strategies have on work in the Delta. Seminar 3 - Decision frameworks for landscape interventions with multiple ecosystem service impacts: applications in the Central Valley on Bryant, Ph.D., Natural Capital Project, Water in the West, Stanford Wednesday, January 31, 12:00 — 1:00 p.m. Dr. Bryant will present on methodological approaches for integrating ecosystem services, hydrologic, and economic modeling to inform decisions about landscape management. The talk will combine California case studies with discussions about how to operationalize concepts from multi-criteria analysis and decision making under uncertainty.
