El Medio is requesting a short term loan to cover expenditures through December,
2014. Because of all the strike teams we have had out on the fires in Northern
California, we have had an unusual amount of overtime causing an unexpected amount
of payroll overtime. We do not know how soon we will be getting our reimbursement
from the State and Federal governments. We foresee a cash shortfall by mid-October or
first of November and will be expecting our first installment of approximately $235,000
from property tax revenues in December. We do not anticipate needing more than
around $125,000 but it may be much less than that when all is said and done.
At this time, my estimate for as yet unreimbursed strike team monies is
approximately $166,000.
We do not like having to ask this of the County but feel we have no other recourse
at this time. If the anticipated revenues come in earlier than anticipated; there may be no
need for a loan, but past experience has shown that we cannot know when they will be
received.
