Subject: "Shout Out"for Volunteers" - Paradise Chocolate Festival - May 13th
Hello Butte County Board of Supervisors and Clerk of the Board,
As President of the Paradise Friends of the Library, I am writing to ask that you consider volunteering
at the Paradise Chocolate Festival on May 13, 2017, the day of the Chocolate Festival. The festival
event really needs volunteers for the day of the event. The four-hour shifts are 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
and 12:30 pm to 5:30. The hours worked will be credited to a youth beneficiary of your choice at a
rate of$9 per hour. For example, if you signed up to benefit the Friends of the Library, your hours will
count as dollars for the Summer Reading Program. There are many other worthy groups that could
benefit from your volunteers hours, as well.
Your participation would mean a lot to the community as well as benefiting the Summer Reading
Program. These funds provide for a new book for each youth participant who reads during the
summer months. Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, April 10, 2017, or as soon thereafter as
possible.
If you are not available that day, please ask around and find one person who might like to help out the
community and also have a really fun time here in Paradise! Information about the festival and the
application form are available from the Paradise Chocolate Festival
1
website: www.chocolatefestival.us. It is an opportunity to donate without having to reach into your
pocket.
I am involved in the festival as a Chocolate Queen Candidate. As a candidate I am credited with 20
hours for the Summer Reading Program and can also work another 20 hours. The job of each queen
candidate is to raise funds by hosting events and selling tickets. The candidate that earns the most
for the festival is crowned queen on May 13, 2017. If you would like to support my queen campaign,
you may donate online at www.chocolate fest.us or mail a check to Youth on the Ridge Community
Foundation at P O Box 2621 Paradise CA 95967.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to write back. I am available to pick
up and deliver applications to the Chocolate Festival Office.
I will appreciate your letting me know that this email was delivered. (Happy face)
Sincerely,
Joanna Gutierrez, President
Friends of the Library
