Subject:Sanctuary town or city
I want to communicate to the board that I am AGAINST the move to make Chico a "non-sanctuary"town or city-
S1354.
Whether we ultimately decide to be a "sanctuary"town in the future is still a question that residents of the town need
to
discuss with their representatives and board and this decision should not be rushed. Voting to make it a non-
sanctuary
town, is definitely PREMATURE. The discussions have not been held yet. Allowing this without dialogue would
make it
completely clear that the residents of this town are not considered by their local government representatives,. In
addition, the
local police and sheriffs departments need to weight in on this. If it becomes the case that these types of decisions
are
preempted -then residents will need to vote in representatives that DO take the input from those they work for into
strong
consideration.
