Board Members:
As a follow up to today's Board meeting inquiry on the County's exhibit at the State Capitol, here is what I
learned. Subsequent to your direction last year, staff budgeted $10,000 to create a new exhibit and issued an
RFP to over 50 local and regional graphics designers, artists, and tourism-related organizations. There were no
responses or bids, so staff entered into a contract with Chico State University Museum Studies to create a new
exhibit.
The new exhibit was completed in the fall of 2008. Attached is a picture of the new exhibit. The key aspects of
the new exhibit are:
-Accurately depict the diversity of entire county, with seasonal representation;
- Focus on the natural wealth and beauty of county;
-Simple, pleasing design, with no animation or moving parts;
-Constructed from durable materials that will stand up to time; and
- Requires little to no maintenance
