Participants thus far are CALFIRE, CA National Guard, BCSO and SAC Metro. This event will provide rescue crews lifelike opportunities to perform agency specific air rescue techniques via hoist or short haul operations. All are welcome to come by and watch. CAL FIRE Water Rescue Training Thursday April 14, 2016------Aviation/Water Rescue Training Oboes: -Integrate training between air rescue helicopters with hoist capabilities and water rescue technicians from CAL FIRE and the California National Guard -Discuss helicopter capabilities and limitations, hoist rescue operations, loading of aircraft for personnel and equipment,aircraft communication and coordination between agency policies and guidelines -Cover water incident search techniques and victim marking for aerial resources -Discuss potential challenges for rescuers and aircraft and associated risk management -Discuss Incident organization considerations -Utilize Water Rescue Operational trained personnel as resources for air operations personnel hoist training. The training will be conducted in a safe and efficient manner utilizing a risk analysis and limiting exposure of the rescuers and students to high risk situations. Aerial resources: CAL FIRE will have two hoist capable aircraft available. The California National Guard will also have two hoist capable aircraft available. CAL FIRE Butte Unit will have a dedicated rescue team with divers available and deployed at the training site. Topics to be covered: Personnel loading/ unloading safety considerations, operating limits of aircraft, crew safety briefings, loading of equipment, boats, PPE etc., hand signals, com, Static water hoist of victims: Site-Thermalito Afterbay.This drill will simulate victims in need of rescue from static water.The aircraft will perform hoist rescues of the simulated victims. Victim rescue from a vehicle in water:Site-Thermalito Afterbay-This drill will simulate a victim needing to be rescued from the roof of a partially submerged vehicle.The aircraft will perform a hoist, quick pick or hover step rescue from the vehicle roof. Victim rescue from dynamic water: Site- Feather River. Drill will simulate a victims needing rescue from moving water. Aircraft will perform capture and hoist rescue or quick pick of simulated victims Crew and equipment shuttle: Site-Thermalito Afterbay-This drill will involve a crew shuttle to a remote location and the unloading of personnel and equipment.This drill is meant to simulate the need to deposit a rescue team and their equipment in a remote location.
